first week in VAN

Well, a full week has gone by! This time last week, mind you I was still on the plane, but still, 7 days in VAN have already flown by. I won't lie, today my sister left and it was SO hard, I cried. It just made me realize I no longer have her or my friend here to keep me company while Greg (my cousin) and Nate (his roomie) are at work or outta the house. I'm on my own!

So this last week, where do I start. Saturday flying in was exhausting, 5 hrs on the flight, a little too much wine and 3 hrs of gained time...let me tell you, it was tough! However, nothing was as exciting as knowing, the next day, at 12 noon (van time) was one of the most anticipated moments of potential Canadian history - the GOLD MEDAL HOCKEY GAME! I went to Falconetti's, my cousin's bar that he works at, with my sister, my friend and my cousin. Throughout the game, we periodically went outside for some air...the streets were PACKED with cars and ppl, honking and cheering, waving flags and even wearing them as capes! Nothing was as intense as that game...and of course we KILLED the US! Funny thing was, we drank quite a bit...for a tiny girl, I had 5 Guinness' and I did not feel a thing. The other 3 said they had like 6 pints and felt the same way. We figured it was our adrenalin that took over and dampened the effects of the booze...which kinda sucked considering mine and Sarah's tab was like $70 and we felt nothing lol. From here we hopped on the Skytrain and road downtown to partake in what I believe was the biggest friggen party Canada ever saw! Robson street was MAYHEM! 1000s of ppl, no word of a lie. It got to be quite scary actually, how packed the streets were, we couldn't even move at some points and our bodies even got squished to the point of not being able to inhale more air to breathe lol. CRAZY day that was, and it went on for hours...just check my pics and videos on facebook.

The next few days we explored all over Van. Went to Yaletown, Chinatown, Stanley Park, over to Science World and BC Place where a lot of the Olympics were held. Sarah and I even made our own Inukshuk's on the rock raveen along the water near Science World (again check my pics). This week was amazing. The weather was unbelievable except for one evening where it drizzled a bit but who cares, and the company I had was awesome as well. My first week couldn't have gone any better.

Let me tell you tho, I miss everyone SOOOOOOOO much, it really is hard being independent, let alone independent in a new city in a new province. I really look forward to skyping, chatting, emailing and facebooking with as many ppl as possible to help me get through this transition. I never ever want to lose touch with anyone, as my bestest of friends and most amazing of memories have been made in St. Kitts and I truly never want to forget them or any of you! <3
